GELLI PARK BOWLS CLUB

COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT

The club is committed to providing good quality coaching in Lawn Bowls in a safe environment. This Code of Conduct and good practice document sets the standards and expectations of coaches involved with the club.

It has been developed to encourage standards of good practice and to protect the welfare and wellbeing of all those involved in the game, particularly young players.

When working with players, I will:

  • Place the well-being, safety and enjoyment of each player above everything.
  • Create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to participate whatever their ability.
  • Maintain an environment free of fear and harassment.
  • Never engage in or tolerate any form of bullying.
  • Recognise the rights of all participants to be treated as individuals.
  • Develop mutual trust and respect with every player to build their self-esteem.
  • Encourage each player to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance.
  • Ensure that coaching sessions are fun, well structured and focus on developing skill, decision-making and understanding of the game.
  • Ensure all activities I organise are appropriate for the players’ ability level, age and maturity.
  • Explain exactly what I expect of players and what they can expect from me.
  • Ensure all parents/carers of all players under the age of 18 understand these expectations.
  • Be aware of the Bowls Wales Welfare Policy and my responsibilities.

You must agree to abide by the Gelli Park Bowls Club Code of Conduct to be able to carry  out coaching within  the club.
