GELLI PARK BOWLS CLUB
COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT
Our club is dedicated to delivering high-quality coaching in Lawn Bowls within a safe and supportive environment. This Code of Conduct and Good Practice document outlines the standards and expectations for all coaches associated with the club.
The purpose of this document is to promote best practices and safeguard the welfare and wellbeing of everyone involved in the sport, with a particular focus on protecting young players.
As a coach, I commit to:
- Prioritising the well-being, safety, and enjoyment of every player above all else.
- Creating an inclusive environment where individuals of all abilities can participate.
- Ensuring the environment is free from fear, harassment, or intimidation.
- Rejecting and actively addressing any form of bullying.
- Respecting the individuality and rights of every participant.
- Building mutual trust and respect to help players grow in confidence and self-esteem.
- Encouraging players to take responsibility for their own actions and performance.
- Designing coaching sessions that are enjoyable, well-structured, and focused on skill development, decision-making, and game understanding.
- Ensuring all activities are suitable for the players’ age, maturity, and skill level.
- Clearly communicating my expectations to players and outlining what they can expect from me.
- Ensuring that parents and guardians of players under 18 are fully informed of these expectations.
- Familiarising myself with the Bowls Wales Welfare Policy and fulfilling my responsibilities accordingly.
You must agree to abide by the Gelli Park Bowls Club Code of Conduct to be able to carry out coaching within the club.
